P6 Alpha features key vitamins and minerals to help you unlock your alpha.
Vitamins are a type of micronutrient that our bodies need in small quantities to function properly. Vitamins are either fat soluble or water soluble depending on if they can dissolve in fat or water. P6 Alpha and Alpha Advanced features fat-soluble Vitamin D and the water-soluble vitamins Vitamin B6 and Folate.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D plays a role in calcium metabolism, immune function, and protein synthesis.[1] Vitamin D can be obtained through foods, sunlight, and supplements, with sunlight being the most common source for most people.[2] This can make obtaining enough vitamin D challenging for individuals who do not get enough sunlight. In one meta-analysis, 56% of athletes had inadequate vitamin D levels.[3] We use Vitamin D3 in our P6 Alpha and Alpha Advanced formulations because this form has been shown to be more effective than D2.[4]
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 plays a role in the metabolism of macronutrients, neurotransmitter synthesis, and immunity. [5,6] In animal studies, Vitamin B6 supplementation is associated with increased levels of carnosine. [7,8] Carnosine is a dipeptide formed from the combination of beta-alanine and histidine. Carnosine buffers acid, which can support muscular endurance during exercise. Some of the enzymes that play a role in beta-alanine's synthesis of carnosine rely on the bioactive form of Vitamin B6.
Folate
Also known as Vitamin B9, plays a significant role in amino acid metabolism and the synthesis of nucleic acids.[9]
Minerals are essential compounds that the body needs to function, minerals also make up the micronutrients. P6 Alpha and Alpha Advanced feature the key minerals magnesium and zinc.
Magnesium
Magnesium plays a vital role in several processes throughout the body including energy production, muscle contraction, and protein synthesis. [10,11] Research on the dietary habits of people in North America and Europe shows that many people consume less than the daily recommended amount of magnesium. [12,13]
Zinc
Zinc plays a role in wound healing, protein synthesis, and immune function. [14,15] Zinc also plays a key role in many normal functions of the male reproductive system including testosterone production. [16,17,18,19]
